7 Basic Yet Often Overlooked Personal Branding Secrets of Successful Entrepreneurs

I believe everyone should have a personal brand. Trust me – having a personal brand is amazing. And in this digital age, it has also become necessary. It doesn’t matter if you work alone or in a company; it can do wonders for your success. If you haven’t already, today is a great time to start working on your own personal brand!

While designing a unique tagline and impactful logo are all good, I’ll give you some extra tips to take your personal brand to another level.

  1. What’s your brand value TODAY?

I know what you’re thinking – that you haven’t even started building a brand yet. But I believe that the process starts from the day you’re born. You can improve, sure, but it’s the sum and total of what you’ve done till today. Personal brand or not, everyone has a story to tell.

Start by doing a Google search of your name. What story are you telling on your social media profiles? Is it up to date? What kind of posts have you liked and shared? Once you’ve analysed this, start polishing your profiles. Write a ‘bio’ and ‘about us/me’ that tells your story. Then make posts that affirm this story. In this day and age, you can create a personal brand solely from social media.

  1. Industry conferences to the rescue

I can never overestimate the value of speaking at conferences. People always remember the personal connections they make at global conferences. Whether onstage or backstage, it’s a great way to connect and network with people who can become followers of your brand.

Needless to say, your presentation skills need to be great. That’s what will differentiate you from other personal brands. While people remember interactive sessions, they as easily forget boring speeches. To get better at it, start with webinars.

  1. Eat, sleep, and breathe your personal brand

We know how product and services branding works – they put their ‘stamp’ on everything they do. That’s how they build recognition among the audience. It is the same with personal branding. Mix your personal brand with everything that you do.  For instance, mark the content you’re making, regardless of whether it’s awesome information (outlines, videos, gifs, infographics, representations, and so forth), photographs, images, or cool charts or work processes. Likewise, consider the tone and style of your content. You should be deliberate in the way you build up your own image. Just blogging or appearing via web-based networking media doesn’t cut it. Get jackets with your logo and tagline. Integrate it with mugs, stationery, emails, social media profiles – everything. Nothing should go out without your branding.

Become a walking billboard if that’s what it takes. Why? Because it’ll initiate conversations, and eventually more recognition.

  1. Practice what you preach

The biggest rule of personal branding is to be steady, engaging, and to do precisely what you ask that others do. If you manage to build a great personal brand, your whole target is to amplify and quicken the qualities your image stands for. Use your authentic voice and don’t fake anything.

  1. Use Facebook Live

While a lot of personal brands use podcasts and webinars, I believe Facebook Live is another beast altogether. It’s pretty easy to do, and people love it because of its spontaneous nature. You don’t even need to have special equipment – your phone will do! The nature of these Live features depends on your brand. For me, doing Q&A sessions on Live has been extremely helpful. When you’ve built a loyal audience, you make it a regular feature; for example, a Facebook Live every Saturday at 5 pm. And like I said in the previous point, don’t forget to include your branding!

  1. Post blogs on LinkedIn

I’ve seen my entrepreneur friends absolutely ace LinkedIn with their blogs. Commit yourself to becoming active on LinkedIn and producing high-quality, long-form content. Instead of reposting, produce exclusive content for the platform. LinkedIn Pulse has a unique audience from other platforms, it’s your job to tap into that and establish yourself as an authority.

  1. You won’t go far without hustling

To streamline your own image in an advanced world, you have to work harder at distributing your amazing content quicker and further. It’s called “content hustling”.

You should definitely know at this point that you must make marvellous content for your gathering of people. Yet, what’s the use in case you’re not getting it out there? Regularly, brands invest more energy concentrated in making perfect content, but dreadfully a lot less time in distributing it.

One bit of content can go far. You should post frequently, on the entirety of your channels, in various circumstances, to ensure you’re grabbing their eye when they happen to be glancing through their feeds.

The business world is aggressive. Yet, that doesn’t imply that you can’t emerge and flourish. You should simply put a little idea into how to appear as something else, and how to have clients remember you without putting thought behind it. I trust these tips will help you as much as they have helped me!
